Abstract:

Large Cities as Tehran, as a result of anotheropogenic heat source and air pollution, create heat island effect that leads to climatic change. In this study we have compared 41 years of (1959-1999) meteorological records for Tehran and Qazveen (a small city) about l OOkm west of Tehran. Temperature rise in time in Tehran is about 0.689'~ per 10 year, which is not observed in Qazveen. This temperature increase particulary marked in autumn. This heat island effect is as a result of population growth and enlargement for this period we find relation between A T , (diffrence of the five-year average minimum temperature between Tehran and Qazveen) and population (pop) as: AT?? = 6.53Log(pop) - 38.3 Which shows a substantial warming over the city of Tehran with population.
