Abstract:

Evaluation of Heat stress Index on workers and it's control procedures in solfatic Mine. The object of this was evaluate the Heat stress Index in different section in one of the Tehran solfatic mines and to propose the practical procedures to control heat stress. This study has been carried out in solfatic mine which is situated at Tehran Qum road during the summer 1996 . It was a descriptive - analytical study . The subjecte was 14 workers and the pressonnel . The environmental parameteres such as &r temp, Glob temp , . . . . And WBGT . Index were measured and at the same time the workers were interviewed and the questioners were completed by the resercher . The measurement method was carried out according to IS0 7243 recommendations . The results indicated that . Mean value of Heat Stress indices and WBGT.TWA Inlittle - tanke plant , and boiler showed statistically significant difference in comparison with those in storehouse manufacturies , laboratory and office department . The lowest value was calculated in ofice department ( 22 . 5 plus-minus 0 . 3 1 ) and the highest value wasmeasured in mine environmentd . (29 plus-minus 0. 5 1 ) , that was ( 4 plus-minus 0 . 5 ) higher than the standard value recommended by I . S . 0 ( 25 ) . Mean of he difference between . WBGT . TWA for workers wearing light clothing had significant differace with the value for workers with dark clothing . Heat feeling in workers at workplace has not been the same and has been in agreement with mearured WBGT. TWA . Mean of Natural wet temperature in plant ( 23 . 7 plus-minus 0 . 047 ) and mean of radiation temperature in mine ( 48 . 7 plus-minus 1.26 ) the highest measurements respectively. Mean of WBGT . in Head level of workers was not the same . This value for mine workers ( 29.8 plus-minus 2.27 ) and plant ( 28 . 8 plus-minus 1. 55 ) was higher and for officials ( 22 . 7 plus-minus 1.45 ) was the lowest values respectively. Mean of WBGT in Ankle level of workers of various sections was not the same and the highest and lowest values was respectively measured in ankle level of workers in mine ( 30. 2 ?? 0.32 )Inthis study also the measured WBGT . TWA value and T.L.V recommended by I.S.0 and ACGLH was compared , and the following results were obtained' ; Mean of WBGT . TWA values obtained in the mine environment , plant , and little tank are higher than recommended values by L . S . 0 and IZCGIH. Mean of measured WBGT. TWA in plant work shops , laboratory , storehouse and office section wer dower than recommended value b L.S.1 and ACGIH.
