Abstract:

In this research 556 out of appriximatly 750 workers were studied The data were obtained after the inspection of nose and throut , by measuting height , weight and blood prssure , by asking questions mentioned in the questionnaire Forced Vital Capacity ( FVC) , Forced Expiratory Volume in one Second ( FEVl) and forced niidexpiratory flow ( FEF25-75 ) were measured and compared with expected ( natural ) values Two sided Z test with 1 % uncertainty level showed that miners are thd younger and less experienced group with 99 % probabigity , the difference in the ratio of prevalence of dyspnea between miners and non - miners and also between exploitation group and non - miners were signigicatn X test showed no significant difference with 99% confidence level in the incificant X test showed no significant among the mining groups . Through Z test at 95% confidence level , the prevalence of addiction to cigarette smoking among the miners and non - miners showed no signigicant difference At 95 % confidence level , the ilicidence of sputum arnong thenon - smokers of the two groups of miners and non miners and non miners was different , and it was higher among the miners In the case of dyspnea the same also was true Although , for the miners and non - miriers were not different the ean FVC , FEVl and FEF25-75 the ratio of those having unnatural FEVl to the total people with the same working experience increases with the length of their employment period . This trend was more linear and steeper among the miners compared to non - miners . As the sample and reference groups had the same soking habits and the incidence of respiratory symptoms among the smokers , ex-smokers and non - smokers of miners are not significantly different , and both groups work in the same climatic conditions ( temperature and pressure ) , the higher incidence of respiratory symptoms in miners is related to their job A previous studles in this area have related cough and sputum , the sumptome of simple chronic bronchitis , to pneumoconiosis . Therefore it can be said that these workers also are at risk of pneumoconiosis Further study is recommended .
