The survey of prevalence rate of diseases among workers in one of the Shahrood Coalmine and its effective factors

Abstract:

According to the ILO annually ID millions of workers die from work related accident and diseases .It estimated 250 millions of workers suffer fiom occupational accidents and 160 millions from occupational diseases. Though mining employs only 1% of the world workforce the industry accounts for 8?? of world related diseases. One of the big problems in mine are occupational diseases specially pneumoconiosis in addition to musculoskeletal disorders contains: bursitis of knee and elbow's joint, arthrosis of neck ,waist and knee and lumbar hemia.Behaviora1 disorders, ,loss hearing, Reynolds syndrome and nistagmose are the others work related disease in mines. Prevalence rate determination of diseases of coal miners in order to preventive programs is specially important that is total purpose of this research. This research was a descriptive study, persons under study consist of 1 186 miners of Tezerea coalrnine.The required data was collected using their medical files. Classification of diseases was down based on international classification of world health organization(ICD.9.CM). The relation between the most prevalent diseases and age, experience, job and workplace, ... x2 test and about mean 's differences in different diseases anova test were used. In this research the highest prevalence rate of diseases were injury (1 5.4%), musculoskeletal disorders(l1 .l%), lung diseases(O.l%), nervous diseases (7.2%)respectively and the lowest rate was cancer(0.25%).The highest rate of lost work days due to diseases were injuries(303ldays), nervous diseases (1 261days), musculoskeletal disorders (1 lOSdays).The relation between injuries with job(pc0.047) and between nervous diseases and job (M.03)was statistically significant. Also relation between lung 'seases and musculoskeletal disorders with kind of employment were statistically significant ( p=0.001)and 0=0.00)respectivcly. Between musculoskeletal disorders and other diseases in point of view of experience mean significant differences (p=0.05)was seen.
