Safety Process in Underground Uranium Mines

Abstract:

Underground mining is naturally combined with several dangers and accidents. So if mining goal is to extract uranium ore, the mine safety have to be noticed more. Regarding the general dangers of an underground mine including collapsing, blasting, being hurt by machines and ..., there are some other dangers due to the pollution of radioactive ore radiation, dusts containing ore particles and radiation of radioactive gasses. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a comprehensive safety and protecting process in order to make a systematic safety checking process and facilitate deciding and controlling. In this paper, based on PHA (Preliminary Hazard Analysis) rules, method of analysis, encountering and control of dangers in an underground uranium mine are presented by flowcharts in which, safety process are explained by a continuous algorithm from opening of the mine to the end of the mine life
