Abstract:

Amirkabir tunnel with more than 2 km length is one of the famous and important tunnels of Iran and is located in Karaj - Chalous road near Amirkabir dam. Despite of high polloution, till now, there is not any mechanical ventilation in this tunnel. In order to design the ventilation system of tunnel, in the first step, the traffic density of the road for the the next 10 years was studied and in this regard, the rate of 1070 veh/h was obtained. In the second step, the required air based on factors such as dilution of carbon mono oxide, nitrogen oxides and fumes in different cases (normal and heavy traffics) were calculated and the required fresh air for normal and heavy traffic where fund to be 140 and 280 m3/s respectively. At the third step, different alternatives such as longitudinal ventilation using Jat fans, longitudinal ventilation using horizontal tunnel and raise and semi - transverse system were studied. In this paper, semi - transererse system is described.
