Abstract:

DareZare Copper Mine which is a deposit of low grade Porphyry copper ore is situated in eastern north of Sirjan in Kerman Province. Mine Exploitation is started in semi-industrial scale in recent years for production of copper in our country likely by BioHeap leaching technology. But in order to consideration of environmental requirements and laws in industrial development, some studies was done for identification of environmental contaminants during mining operation in DareZare copper mine focused on Acid Mine Drainage. AMD is one of natural or human contaminations which is generated by sulfide ore oxidation and reaction with water and air in some mining areas. During these studies included chemical and Mineralogical analysis, Static and Kinetics tests on DareZare copper ores, acid generation potential and role of Bacteria on its catalyzing was proved. The basic reasons of acid generation in DareZare mine were percentage of Sulfide minerals specially pyrite in copper ore, air, subsurface and surface waters, whereas Bacteria was catalyzing factor for reaction. In order to control and neutralization of AMD for prevention of environmental risks and economical losses, some alternatives like as mine suitable drainage, adding neutralization chemicals and/or biological methods by SRB Bacteria is suggested.
