Abstract:

Imogolite nanotubes have been synthesized from reaction of tetraethoxysilane (TES), aluminium-sec-butoxide (ASB), perchloric acid and doubly distilled water. The catalytic activities of synthesized imogolite nanotubes in the synthesis of 4(3H)-quinazolinones from the reaction of 2- aminobenzamide, and acylchlorides have been studied. From the results it can be concluded that imogolite nanotubes can catalyze this reaction and led to desired product in high yields. The reusability of imogolite nanotubes is another interesting property of this catalyst.

Keywords:

Imogolite, 4(3H)-quinazolinone, recyclable catalyst.
