چکیده مقاله:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between career ambition (high achievement motivation and strong career orientation) and extrinsic success (salary, position) and intrinsic success (job satisfaction, goal attainment) with the mediating role of individual factors (skills, etc.). We have used three standard questionnaires in order to investigate the effect of career ambition on extrinsic and intrinsic success with the mediating role of individual factors. This is an applied research in terms of the purpose, and a descriptive (non-experimental) and field study in terms of the data collection method. In terms of relationship between the research variables, this is a causal correlation research based on structural equation modeling. The study population consists of the PhD students of Isfahan University, and a sample proportional to the statistical population of the study was selected using the simple random sampling method and the research was carried out using the correlation method. After the data were collected and analyzed, the results show that career ambition affects both extrinsic and intrinsic success. The ambition variable accounts for the variance of the extrinsicsuccess with a direct effect of (0.36) and indirect effect of (0.28), and accounts for the variance of the intrinsic success (as the final dependent variable) with a direct effect of (0.38) and indirect effect of (0.30). In addition, the individual factors variable accounts for the variance of the extrinsic success with a direct effect of (0.36) and indirect effect of (0.28), and accounts for the variance of the intrinsic and extrinsic success (as the final dependent variable) with a direct effect of (0.62) and (0.67).
