Comparison of language disorders in psychotic disorder (Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Drug-Induced Psychosis)

The present study was done intended to analyze and compare language disorders in psychotic patients (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and drug-induced psychosis). The current study is an applied research in terms of objective and a causal-comparative descriptive research in terms of data gathering method. Using targeted sampling technique, 09 individuals were chosen out of all psychotic patients (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and drug-induced psychosis) admitted in Razi Psychiatric Hospital of Tehran City (09 schizophrenic patients, 09 bipolar disorder patients, and 09 drug-induced patients). The respective persons had been admitted in the hospital for one week at maximum. Persian Aphasia questionnaire was used in the present research. The acquired data were analyzed by means of multivariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. The results indicated that there was significant difference among three groups at p-value of P<9091. It means the three groups namely schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and drug-induced psychosis were different in terms of language disorders. There were significant differences among three groups with regard to speech abilities including impromptu speech, oral expression, written language comprehension, and writing ability. But no significant difference was observed in auditory comprehension ability among the three groups
