چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common form of thyroid malignancy طOE accounting for 80 % of thyroid carcinomas in adults and 90% in children. Plants are used worldwide for the treatment of diseases, and Cucurbita pepo has been used in traditional folk medicine to treat cold and alleviate ache. The aim of this study was to investigate the antitumor effect of hydro-alcoholic extracts hull less seed pumpkin on PTC cell line. Materials & Methods: Papillary thyroid cancer cell line (B-CPAP) were cultured in DMEM medium, containing 10% FBS, 100 U/mL Penicillin, 100 μg/mL Streptomycin. PTC Cells were seeded in 96-well plates at a concentration of 5 × 10³ cells/well and were then incubated for 24 hours to allow cell adherence to the bottom of the wells then treated with different concentration of extract (200 to 6400 μg/ml). Cell viability was measured by MTT assay after 24 hours. One way ANOVA were analyzed by SPSS software, version 18. Results: The results of MTT assay showed that the viability obtained from cells treated with of hydro-alcoholic extracts hull less seed pumpkin were decrease with increase dose. Comparing the number of cells formed after treatment with various concentrations of hydro-alcoholic extracts hull less seed pumpkin, showed significant differences compared with control (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Our study revealed that hydro-alcoholic extracts hull less seed pumpkin has cytotoxic effects on PTC cells.
