چکیده مقاله:

In the present investigation, the ultrafine-grained microstructures are produced using constrained groove pressing (CGP) process which is considered as one of the modern manufacturing processes regarding grain refinement, and theninvestigated by the finite element methods and experimental tests. This effective sever plastic deformation method was applied on the low carbon steel sheets in order to reach better grain refinement and thus better mechanical properties. Thus, according to principals of CGP process, a set of proper CGP die was first designed and manufactured in order to induce a large amount of deformation to the specimen in each operation step. The finite element simulation was carried out in 2D condition, using ABAQUS software. The tensile and the hardness tests measured the mechanical properties and the change in grain size number was carefully evaluated. The results show that the CGP process results in better grain refinement and it leads to improvement of specimen's mechanical properties significantly.
