چکیده مقاله:

Traveling wave tubes (TWT) are one of two major categories of microwave devices known as linear-beam or O-type tubes. The largest applications for TWTs arein satellites and communication systems. The four main elements of these vacuum microwave amplifiers are electron gun, slow wave structure (SWS), RF input andoutput connectors and magnet focusing system and the collector. An electron beam emitted from the electron gun, passes through SWS to exchange its energy withelectromagnetic wave finally is collected at the end part of tube known as collector. The electron trajectory fromelectron gun to the collector is simulated by particle tracking simulator software (CST), which can specify the dissipated power in various parts of the collector. The collector, in turn should be cooled down, or the TWT will be subjected to fail. In this paper to determine the temperature distribution in the collector, the thermal analysis of the TWT’s collector has been carried out using ANSYS-CFX software, considering variablethermal conductivity for the separating ceramics. Collector’s boundary conditions are temperature constant condition for the collector base and freeconvection for side faces and adiabatic condition for other sides. Results show that the hot spot appear on the inner shell and the lowest temperature of the system appears on the collector base.
