A Bilingual Speaker's Impaired Language Skills: Manifestations of Aphasia

To complement the bilingual aphasia research, the present study aims to explicate impaired language skills, recovery pattern of languages, and the main variablesaffecting manifestations in a bilingual Faili Kurdish-Farsi aphasic speaker. To assess the language skills, the equivalent versions of the Bilingual Aphasia Test (BAT) (Paradis,1987) were administered and the results were described and compared. The final recovery pattern was non-parallel with L2 (Farsi) better recovered and less impaired than L1 (Faili Kurdish). This pattern was associated with several variables. Additionally, there were implications for bilingual aphasia studies.
