Effect of the entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana on the beetle,Tribolium castaneum on different wheat cultivars

چکیده مقاله:

The objective of the research was to determine the pathogenicity of the fungus Beauveria bassiana against the store grain pest Tribolium castaneum (Col.: Curculionidae) on different wheat cultivars including Pishtaz, C, 70±5% RH). Therefore, two°Chamran, Chamran 2, Sirvan and Mihan under laboratory conditions (27±1 fungal concentrations including 107 and 108 conidia/ml were used. The beetles were exposed to the fungus by submerging method and Tween 80 (0.02 %) was used as the control. Each treatment was conducted in three replicates that each replicate contained 15 adult beetles. The beetle mortalities were recorded daily during seven days and the data were analyzed by SAS software. The results showed that the mean mortality of the fungal treatments was significantly higher than the control; but there was no significant difference between two tested concentrations. Only the mean mortality of the beetles exposed to107 conidia/ml of the fungus on the Mihan cultivar was significantly lower than the others. The mean mortality of the beetles exposed to 107 conidia/ ml of the fungus on the Pishtaz, Chamran, Chamran 2, Sirvan and Mihan cultivars were obtained 14.00±0.00, 14.67±0.33, 14.00±0.58, 13.33±0.88 and 7.00±1.53 insects, respectively and exposed to 108 conidia/ml of the insects, respectively. 0.33±and 12.67 0.67±13.67 ,1.33±13.67 ,0.33±14.67 ,0.33±fungus were obtained 14.67 Totally, the type of the cultivar had no impact on the store grain beetle pest. The present research showed that .the Mihan cultivar decreased the pathogenicity of the fungus with concentration of 107 conidia/ml
