چکیده مقاله:

Dyes are usually present in trace quantities in the treated effluents of many industries. However, wastewater containing dyes is very difficult to treat, since the dyes are recalcitrant organic molecules, resistant to aerobic digestion, and are stable to light, heat and oxidizing agents due to their structureand molecular size The effectiveness of adsorption for dye removal from wastewaters has made it anideal alternative to other expensive treatment methods. This study investigates the potential use ofactive carbon prepared from the bin treepretreated for the removal of Malachite green dye fromsimulated wastewater. The effects of condition such as adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, pH,sieve size of adsorbent and contact time were studied. The results showed that as the amount of theadsorbent was increased, the percentage of dye removal increased accordingly. Higher adsorptionpercentages were observed at lower concentrations of Malachite green . After the optimization ofvariables the experimental data at different concentration of Malachite green was fitted using differentmodels such as Langmuir, Freundlich and Tempkin. Based on the R2 as criterion for applicability ofmethod, it was found that adsorption process follow Langmuir. Following the investigation of contacttime on the adsorption rate and fitting the obtained results to different kinetic models such as firstorder, second order, Elovich and interparticle diffusion model.
