چکیده مقاله:

The double role of the cities in creating green infrastructure and consideration of environmental effects is critical for urban life quality management and public health in Iran. A major urban problem in Iran is the waste heat generated by increased urbanization and anthropogenic activities due to human modifications in urban settlements and destruction of nature as well as industrial processes and motorized vehicular traffic which is recognized as heat urban island (UHI) effect. Confronting the UHI negative impacts requires an accurate perception of the function of environment and its solutions to alleviate this phenomenon. . Application of green infrastructure (GI) as the inclusion and reintroduction of greenery in the urban built environment can be considered as a strategy to mitigate the negative urban heating problem which is becoming increasingly important in Iran. Therefore, this paper tries to determine the UHI alleviating strategies in Iran in order to deal with UHI effects. Accordingly, a set of recommendations to develop the urban cool environment in Iran on the basis of theoretical, analytical, and practical viewpoints are proposed including enhancement of river valley paths, urban parks, vegetation, green roofs and walls, green corridors, urban water installation and etc. . Finally environmental management concepts are reviewed based on Iran condition to be applied through application of GI.
