چکیده مقاله:

Top tensioned risers (TTRs) are used to connect a vessel to a subsea system on the sea floor, and are equippedwith a tension system to avoid large bending moments to occur and maintain the angles at top and bottom of the riserwhen exposed to environmental loading. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of bending stiffness, toptension and type of material used in production of riser, on the amount of deflection of top tensioned risers, by solvingthe basic differential equation governing the static deflected shape of a near vertical riser, when the riser is close enoughto the vertical (within 101) and the small-angle deflection theory is applicable. Such risers have to be analyzednumerically, since there is no analytical solution for the general case. Second order central difference method is used tosolve the equation. It is found that, bending stiffness has a small effect on the amount of lateral deflection of riser. Incontrast top tension plays an important role in static behavior of TTRs. The effect of specific weight of the materialused in production of the riser on the amount of its lateral deflection is also investigated by using three differentmaterials, and it is proved that more specific weight causes more lateral deflection.
