This paper discusses the different photovoltaics activities and projects in Egypt with emphasis on community field projects utilizing PV for different applications. Lessons learned and recommendations from the field experiences are summarized. Marketability of PV in developing countries is facing tremendous hurdles. Current barriers and constraints, which are making this marketability difficult at present, are discussed. Possible solutions are also proposed, which are in line with the trends in the world. A global solution is presented
