چکیده مقاله:

Nowadays GIS can be considered as a useful tool to deal with environmental pollution problems. The aim of this study was to develop a spatial framework as an information baseline in groundwater pollution management. The developed framework was consisting of a stratified landscape map with a legend including all information on landscape forming factors. The preliminary legend was prepared by visual interpretation of SPOT 2002 and for the verification, field data was collected. Hierarchical thinking system was used as a base for classification. The final map was made by integration of field survey data and a matrix table which included both chorological and topological dimensions. According to the results, vulnerable areas were mostly located in flood plain and cover sand plain. Results revealed that the spatial framework consisting of topological and chorological dimensions can be considered as an acceptable baseline for decision makers in managing ground water pollution.
