Synthesis of Some Novel 8-Amino Coffeinyl Hydroxyl Alkyl Derivatives as Potential Chemotherapeutic Agents

The design and synthesis of some novel 8-amino coffeinyl hydroxyl alkyl derivatives as new analogues of cafaminol is described. The synthesis of these compounds was achieved in two to three steps. Initially, treatment of caffeine with N-bromosuccinimide afforded the prerequisite 8-bromocaffeine. Then, reaction of 8-bromocaffeine with different commercial and/or synthesized amino alcohols was achieved to afford the corresponding 8-amino caffeine derivatives as potential chemotherapeutic agents in good to excellent yields.
