Effect of temperature and concentration on density anddynamic viscosity of diethanolamine and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate mixtures at atmospheric pressure

Recently the mixture of alkanolamine and ionic liquid systems are interested for several industrial process such as for natural gas sweetening. Therefore, in this work, the effect of density and viscosity of pure as well as binary mixtures of Diethanolamine (DEA) with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([bmim][ac]) are explored. The experiments are carried out at atmospheric pressure and from 303.15 to353.15 K over the whole range of mole fraction (0.0-1.0). The experimental results of density and viscosity for the pure systems as well as the binary systems show a decrease with increasing temperature as expected. The results of density measurements show that in all ranges of temperatures the density of pure DEA is greater than density of pure [bmim][ac]. So, in binary mixtures of the DEA+[bmim][ac] thedensity of blend enhances with decreasing concentration of the ionic liquid. Also, the calculated excess molar volumes show a positive deviation from ideality. The effect of concentration on viscosity of mixture show that there is a minimum viscosity point in the DEA-rich region that is an important behavior for industrial applications.
