The influence of -330 IL-2 gene polymorphism on plasma concentration of IL-2 in Iranian multiple sclerosis patients

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neuroinflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. It is seemed cytokine genes are involved in the autoimmune disease such as MS. In this study, we assessed the influence of -330 IL-2 gene polymorphism on concentration of IL-2 in Iranian multiple sclerosis patients. One hundred MS patients and one hundred matched healthy controls was studied the RLFP-PCR method was applied to define different alleles and genotypes among individuals. Human IL-2 kit of eBioscience company was employed. Our results showed that patients discovered higher degrees of IL-2 plasma concentration than controls but in exact, only patients with -330 T/T IL-2 genotype had significant increase in amount of IL-2 plasma concentration. In conclusion, -330 T/T IL-2 genotype effect on higher plasma concentration of IL-2 in MS patients than healthy individuals.
