چکیده مقاله:
Ceramics are one of the important engineering materials, whichhave a lot of Great characteristics. The low toughness of these materials has limited their applications. Different studies have shown that nano-composite ceramics with fine particles within the matrix grain and along the grain boundaries can acquire high toughness. In this work the densification behavior and microstructural development of a 10 vol.% silicon carbide dispersed alumina nano-composite were studied by incorporatingnano-size MgO particles as grain refiner.Green samples with different amount of MgO were densified using hotpress sintering at 1750oC for 1, 1.5 and 2 hours. It was observed that the best densification properties was obtained using 0.01 vol.% MgO as grain refiner and the best sintering condition was at 1750oC for 1 hour and the pressure of 30 Mpa.
