CALIBRATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS: THE TOTAL SOLUTION SYSTEM APPROACH

Calibration Management Systems are vital to the success of quality systems in organizations using Measuring and Test Equipment. These systems facilitate compliance with requirements of standard quality systems, such as ISO 9000, QS-9000, etc. This paper discusses elements and functions of a typical Calibration Management System. In order to maintain and improve effective systems, certain considerations must be taken into account regarding design, choice and implementation issues. These considerations are discussed in detail. A web-based Total Solution System approach is proposed for enterprise wide Calibration Management Systems, by which effectiveness is improved by facilitating fast and reliable communication between all system within the enterprise, and by elimination of redundancies and their subsequent costs.
