Promoting Landscape of Streets’ Walls Regarding Aesthetic Aspects

Elegance has always attracted human eyes due to its powerful instinctive origins within mankind spirit. People have always sought for beauty and attempted to create it. Man-made environment is one of the main fields in which beauty is expressed well. Urban spaces are enclosed by walls which are potentially the manifestation of elegance and beauty of urban space. Streets that own desired visual setting are able to promote the society’s image of itself by developing citizens’ aesthetic experiences. Looking from viewer point of view, nowadays streets are not elegant enough and mostly consist of monotonous lines and dark cold colors. Monotony along with inconsistency has embraced the image of the city while it lacks beauty, color and texture, which are symbols of art. Cities having beautiful streets and visual components with desired aesthetic compositions are really hard to find. Specifically naming, lack of discipline and harmony in body of urban buildings and visual disturbance in street walls’ landscape, has increased the necessity of urban design with focus on aesthetic aspects. Since aesthetics issues are of critical topics in a tourist city like Mashhad, Lack of attractive landscapes in streets could negatively affect citizens’ image. The main issue we discuss here is promoting landscape of streets’ walls regarding aesthetic aspects and the main goal is promoting the quality of wall’s landscape and identifying aesthetic standards to promote urban wall landscape. We used exploratory and explanatory research methods to analyze the case study after explaining basic literature and theoretical necessities. Finally for promoting the wall’s landscape there are design proposals, standards and aesthetic indexes presented.
