چکیده مقاله:

During the past two decades, buildings and living in them have mainly changed; In fact, it can be said that except for a few exceptions, the current buildings are not those habitats which belong to the present time. With the development of materials, innovative construction methods and products; move towards buildings with a high efficiency and better economic profit and compatible with the environment seems essential. Now, we are on the verge of the next generation of buildings; Buildings with various degrees of new technologies that have highly naturalistic and ecologic behavior, and by using intelligently materials compatible with the environment and having an appropriate function against surrounding direct and indirect changes are able to react and adapt themselves.If one reviews briefly the history of architecture in the last century in terms of foresight,it can be seen that the future is defined generally by means of materials and technologies that will be made at that time. In the prospective future, materials are used based on their basic behaviors and characteristics, not due to their performance and the manner of their implementation. Then, today's architectures look at the architecture and construction with a farsighted view, So that using the materials based on their potentials has gone beyond the research in some countries and smart materials are used practically in the buildings. Therefore, it seems necessary to know and understand the characteristics of smart materials and their functions in today's modern architecture.In this paper, smart materials are studied, identified and introduced and how to use properly their technology in current buildings and construction projects are explored. It is hoped that, by knowing the above mentioned materials and applying the knowledge to produce them, we witness the development and expansion of smart materials technologies in our country which their most important advantage is optimization, save and smart management of energy to reduce energy consumption in buildings.
