چکیده مقاله:

Aluminum alloy is one of the most widely used alloys in the diesel engine industry. Due to the presence of silicon in the alloy, during machining, cutting tools are extremely worn. Milling tools wear results in changes in the peripheral dimensions of form and surface roughness leading to significant decrease in the surface quality. Depth dimensions can partly be compensated for by changing the offset levels, but peripheral wear on the tools cannot compensated.According to the theoretical machining ability to create machines capable of precision machining, these problemscan basically be controlled. Previous researches focused mainly on tool wear of single edge, surface quality anddimensional tolerances of form and also position of the edge and the height of the BUE. In the majority of previousstudies, LM2 and/or MMC grade aluminum alloys have been studied. In this study, an industrial workpieceroutinely used in diesel engines is selected and using SANDVIK carbide endmill along with Taguchi method, thesurface quality of the groove bottom was studied. The variable parameters used in this study are: tools feed speed, tools cutting speed, and cutting depth. Output parameter is the quality of the groove. Groove bottom surface quality is measured using a surface roughness tester. In results, MINITAB software is used to analyze the effect of each of the parameters on the process output
