چکیده مقاله:

In this study the performance of Polyaluminium ferric chloride (PAFCl), a composite inorganic polymer ofaluminium and ferric salt, was investigated for the removal of turbidity and color from Isfahan raw water. Watersamples were collected from main resource of Isfahan raw water. For evaluation of the coagulation procedure, conventional jar test apparatus was used according to standard methods. Experiments were conducted in theschool of public health, Isfahan University of Medical Science. The findings showed that the optimum pH forcoagulation of Isfahan raw water at august 2013 was 7.5 to 8 and optimum dosage of the coagulant was 5 mg/L.Without filtration, about 85%, 100% and 86% removal of turbidity, color and total coliform was achieved, respectively, at mentioned dose and pH. Residual turbidity, color and UV 254 dropped below 0.33 NTU, zeroPt.Co units and 0.022 cm-1 respectively. Also residual concentration of aluminium and Iron in treated water was0.008 and 0.05 mg/L respectively. So, this coagulant doesn’t have any adverse health effect on consumers. Theefficiency of this coagulant for the removal of turbidity, color and organic matter in Isfahan raw water was verygood and it has potential for selecting as a new coagulant for this city.
