چکیده مقاله:

Vocabulary learning is a fundamental element in learning a foreign language as well as the acquisition of one's native language. Given the crucial role of words in each language as an integral element in learning a foreign language and the importance of identifying the sources to facilitate this process, this study attempted to identify and classify the English print publications which Iranian Englishlanguage learners resort to in order to overcome the availability gap they encounter in a non-English context. To this purpose, a researcher-made questionnaire was administered to 130 male and female Iranian English learners, whose age ranged from 15 to 45 years. The answers were summarized, and categorized; and the data were submitted to chi-square analysis and Friedman test. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results showed that the commercially available textbooks, English short stories and dictionaries were the most-frequently-used resources for vocabulary learning and the official school English textbooks, English magazines (e.g.TIMES) and English song lyrics were the least frequently-used.
