چکیده مقاله:

English as a global lingua franca has been considered as the language of development, growth, science, expertise, and the world news. However, it is argued that besides learning a foreign language, a second identity is acquired; that is, the student’s worldview, self-identity, and ways of thinking, sensation, acting, and communicating can be muddled by a new culture connection (Brown, 2007). This study investigated the result of age and gender on EFL learners’ cultural attachment. For this purpose, a questionnaire designed by pishghadam and Kamyabi (2019) was employed to find out about leaners understanding of their own culture and western culture. The result of the study showed that male and female learners had different views toward Iranian and western cultures. The results of this study also showed that the view toward culture differ between the young language learners and adolescents.
