Running Head: Focus on Culture Focus on Form?! What about Focus on Culture?

It is clear that social conditions have changed a lot since colonial times when English was imposed on other countries. The new forms of globalization and social relationships in postmodern times have created better conditions for negotiation among different communities. Besides this privilege and development, some challenges are imposed to communities. Linguicism like racisms act as gatekeeping situations where attitudes regarding the most knowledgeableness, friendliness and superior status of people based on the language they speak are psychological manifestations of linguicism. Considering the age and ego of the students, the crucial question is how and when to introduce cultural aspect of the target language and what the challenges might be. This paper re-examines the place of culture in EFL classes and the challenges encountered and the solutions provided.
