Clean agents are investigated as alternatives to halon in fire extinguishing systems. Commercialized halon replacements are introduced and categorized as halocarbon agents and inert gases. Their applications and restrictions are reviewed and their comman attributes are listed. In addition , other characteristics of these including extinguishing mechanism , toxicity, and environmental effects are discussed . although all of this agents are considered as halon alternatives, their application in occupied area is restricted to FM200,FE 13, and CEA-410 of chemical agents and inert gases in concentrations below 43 percent. CEA-410 application is not permitted due to its long atmospheric lifetime unless no other alternative is technically feasible.
