Implementing Risk-Based Inspection on Vessel 101 in Abadan Refinery

The Objective of risk based inspection (RBI) is to determine what incident could occur (consequence) in the event of an equipment failure, and how likely (probability) is it that the incident could happen. RBI calculate Risk quantity for equipment in petroleum or petrochemical facilities, according to the type of deterioration mechanism, corrosion rate, human error, natural disaster, secondary effect from nearly units, consequential effects from associated equipments in the same unit, design errors, unknown mechanism of deterioration and other possible source of errors. This paper describes the methodology, analysis and results of a RBI study conducted on Vessel V-101 in Crude Distillation Unit (CDU 100) in Abadan Refinery, following the procedure and guideline given in API 580/581 resource documents.
