چکیده مقاله:

Objective: One grey mullet fish was captured from Khazar- Abad fishing area of Mazandaran Province in November 2005 with a swollen abdomen. In order to diagnose the reason of this abdominal extension fish was dissected and sampled. Method & Materials: A female fish with 45.8 cm total length and 1254 gr weight with an excessive distention in abdominal cavity and protuberance of two sides of the abdomen was found. Dissection revealed two cysts–like symmetric masses, 200×55 in diameter, which had a tine layer and were filled with liquid. Abundant vessels at the surface of the masses were observed. About 16 ml liquid from two masses were drained with a sterile syringe. Pathological sections from ovaries and the masses and also liver were prepared, stained with H&E, and examined by light microscopy. Results & Conclusion: A cylindrical mass have been found in dissection of cyst-like mass which had excessive congestion or hemorrhage and compacted yellowish granules. The inner layer of cyst–like mass was filled with granules in different sizes. The surface of muscles, swim bladder and other viscera were normal. Intestine was depleted from any feed and gall bladder was filled with bile. The liver was pale. Histopathological study revealed that the cyst-like masses was ovary with many ovules in different sizes and maturity phases. In addition of the abnormal fibroblast cells with large nuclei and abundance cytoplasm around the ovules, the mitotic cells and excessive congestion and hemorrhage have been observed in ovaries. Hepatic sinusoids had congestion and large amounts of ceroid pigments, that indicate long term starvation, were observed in the liver. Congestion and hemorrhage was seen in cerebrum and cerebellum, and also meninge was edematous with congestion.
