چکیده مقاله:

Objective: Te aim of the present study was to determine the heavy metal residues in the water used for marine species. Method and Materials: Heavy Metals like Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Nickel (Ni) and Copper (Co) were measured in marine species according to standard methods. Results and conclusion: Heavy Metals like Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Nickel (Ni) and Copper (Co) are threat to aquatic and humans health which are ultimately the end users. Intense industrialization and road way traffic have caused a significant increase in ecological pollution resulting in the contamination of surface water. This contaminated water is being ultimately leading to the accretion of heavy metals in the aquatic animals. Residues of these metals accumulate in the nautical species and hence they are entering in the food chain. In this study, among 500 water samples from different areas, levels of Cd, Co, and Pb were found to be higher than the permissible limits. Ni concentration was under the admissible limits while Cr concentration found to be higher particularly in those areas which are surrounded by leather industries.
