چکیده مقاله:

Objective: Toxic chemicals can affect the fish immunophysiological variables at different levels compromising the fish health condition. Therefore, use of any chemical substance in aquaculture industry is firstly required the knowledge of its toxicity in the considered species of aquatic animal. This is very important if the chemical is considered as a chemotherapeutant substance. Therefore, the objective of this study was to assess the toxicity of nanosilver suspension, a local production potential as a water disinfectant in fish farming. Method & Materials: Rainbow trout weighing 1.05 g obtained from a fish farm were used. The bioassay test was undertaken at static water condition and water quality parameters including temperature 16◦C, pH 7.5-7.8, hardness <200 mg/l, nitrite <0.1 mg/l, ammonia <0.01 mg/l dissolved oxygen >8 mg/l and carbon dioxide < 5mg/l. The LC50, 96 hours was determined after the survival test and thelimited killing concentration test. Results & Conclusion: The obtained results showed that the LC50 of nanosilver suspension was zero, 6.9, 6.1, and 4.8 mg/l after 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours exposure, respectively. Clinically, the affected fish showed some aggression behaviors and then become listness followed by darkening of body, exophthalmia and with the final in death. According to the LC50 toxicity this nanosilver suspension can be categorized as a moderate toxicant for rainbow trout.
