Structural Control with New Model of Semi-active Base Isolation in Near-Fault Earthquakes Fulltext

This paper proposes a new model of seismic isolation, in order to improve the response of structures and bridges in near-fault seismic excitations. In this model two set of spring and controllable damper which are in series are joint together in parallel and another spring is series with them. On-off skyhook control strategy is used to control of the dampers. In order to investigate and compare the efficacy of a passive base-isolation and semi-active isolation, a model of a ten-story shear building is considered. This simulation demonstrates that the semi active control reduces inter-story displacements and drifts, considerably.
