چکیده مقاله:

The Sarcheshmeh and Darrehzar mining regions are located in the Central Iranian Volcanic Belt. This area is covered by the Eocene volcanic rocks that are intruded by the Oligo- Miocene intrusive bodies. Copper mineralization is mainly of porphyry type and is associated with extensive alterations. The area has a semi-arid climate with rocks clearly exposed that makes it suitable for testing the results of satellite remote sensing techniques. In this study, visible–near infrared (VNIR) and short wave infrared (SWIR) spectral bands of the level 1B, AST_07 and AST_07XT datasets of the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) instrument were evaluated and compared for mapping the alteration minerals in this areas. The level 1B dataset was converted to earth surface reflectance using internal average relative reflectance (IARR) method, whereas the AST_07 and AST_07XT datasets were previously calibrated. The spectral feature fitting (SFF) algorithm was implemented on the datasets using the image spectra of alteration minerals extracted from pure pixels as well as the spectra examined from field samples. Results showed that L1B dataset calibrated by IARR method displayed for mapping argillic-phyllic, advanced argillic and propylitic alteration zones more accuratetly than AST_07 andAST_07XT datasets
