Enhanced Performance of Dye -Sensitized Solar Cells with Fe3O4 /TiO2 Nanoparticles

This study reports preparing of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) with Fe3O4/TiO2 nanoparticles. The nanostructure and surface morphology ofthe samples were characterized by various advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. A higher short circuit current and fill factor, as well as an increase in the final conversion efficiency achieved by 20.2% as compared to pure TiO2 cells. The improvment achieved by using Fe3O4/TiO2 nanop articles is due to the introduction of of Fe3O4 into the TiO2 films and further favor electron transfer by depressing possible recombination and absorption of light in the visible range. Thus, it is believed that with the above accomplishment, DSSCs will become one of the most promising solar devices in next generation.
