The Impact of Raising Language Proficiency and Computer Literacy on English Letter Writing at Tertiary Level

The notion of Letter writing is essentially a means of conveying information and communication. The hybrid nature of raising language proficiency and computer literacy may promote English letter writing and thus facilitate SLA (Amini, M and Aghvami, 8002). Enhancing written communication skills, letter writing makes language proficiency and computer literacy the potentially useful tools for L8 learning as necessary skill (Souran, P and Sharifzadeh, M, 8002). Planning, organizing, drafting, revising and normality of the style are important factors which should be considered during the English letter writing (Amini, M and Aghvami, 8002). Since the Islamic Revolution of the 9191 in Iran, the educational system of the country has gone under qualitative and quantitative changes (Jeris, E. 8008). All these factors made the researcher to elicit public interests to explore the necessity of raising language proficiency and computer literacy. Furthermore, she tried to attract the attention of the educational system of the country, not only to focus on raising language proficiency but to promote written communication and the effectiveness of English letter writing. To this end, 10 Tertiary available (EFL) students, (females) were selected in Bandar Abbas city. Their close homogeneity was confirmed by a GRE (Graduated Records Examination). Then, the students were randomly assigned to two experimental and one control groups; each consisting of 00 students. A standard GRE test and achievement letter writing tests were the instruments
