Prevalence of causative bacterial agents of urinary tract infection in patients attending Bu Ali Laboratory in Kermanshah city

چکیده مقاله:
Background and aims:Urinary tract infections are the most common bacterial infections in the human body and the most common cause of which is Escherichia coli. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of bacterial urinary tract infections in Kermanshah city.Methods:180 mid-stream urine samples were collected from adult patients attended Kermanshah Bu Ali Laboratory at the specified interval. Then by running the differential tests, causing bacteria were identified. Results:Of the 180 samples tested in the laboratory,100 sampleswere E. coli (55/55%), 40 species of coagulase-negative staphylococci (22/22%), 21 samples of Streptococcus species (11/66%), 8 cases of Klebsiella species (4/44%), 7 samples Enterococcus species (3/88%) and 4 of the Citrobacter species (2/22%), respectively.Also from the 180 samples, 110 cases of infectionshad occurred in women (61/11%) and the remaining in 70 men(38/88%). As a result, the most common bacterial cause of urinary tract infections,was E. coli. In addition, the prevalence of infection was higher among women than men.Conclusion:The results showed that in spite of the fact thatthe most common cause of UTI in adultswasEscherichia coli, the other bacteria especially those gram-positive such as Staphylococcus are also of particular importance
