چکیده مقاله:

With the increased trend in using diesel rather than gasoline as fuel, it contributed greatly in the emission of theenvironmental pollutant. Diesel engine emissions such as diesel particulate matters (DPM) and nitrogen oxides(NOX) are of great concerns when using such engines as they are linked with human and environment issues. Onthe other hand, emission standards for both DPM and NOX have become issues that were faced globally;therefore, there is a considerable need to consider new diesel engine after treatment technologies. Applicationsof non‐thermal plasma (NTP) in the reduction of engine exhaust emissions have shown a great potential inemission treatment technology. In this research, diesel exhaust is exposed to NTP in a Dielectric BarrierDischarge (DBD) reactor, with a range of voltage pulses and frequencies applied to reduce PM mass and size. Theresults show that by applying high voltages and frequencies on the plasma reactor, numerous particles havebeen removed and non‐thermal plasma showed a considerable effect on particulate matter treatment.
