چکیده مقاله:

Residents of Makoko Fishing Slum in Lagos, Nigeria among other things have stated that the catch phrase ‘Nigeria: Giant of Africa’ makes no meaning to them as they have never had the privilege of enjoying the benefits of the growth Nigeria claims to experience. Their cry for inclusiveness, equity and equality are not far-fetched as many researchers have traced the Arab Uprising in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to non-inclusiveness in the growth process and rising inequality. The urgent need to promote the sustainably inclusive growth patterns across the world has driven various governments to make inclusive growth their top priority. This is evident in India’s 12th Five Year Plan and Europe’s Strategy 2020, where Inclusive Growth is stated as an emerging economic growth model. The importance of the concept of Inclusive Growth was also made evident to all when the United Nations Development Programme changed the name of her International Poverty Centre in Brasilia to International Policy Centre on Inclusive Growth. (OECD, 2014). The summary of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as developed by the United Nations is to promote sustainable and inclusive growth. This study explores the subject of inclusive growth and ways in which developing countries can expand the benefits of growth to the larger populace using the power of Information and Communication Technologies
