چکیده مقاله:

The goal of the present study was to investigate the sources of anxiety in the oral language classes among elementary male and female EFL learners in a Shokoh language institute in Kerman, Iran. To carry out the study, 112 subjects participated in the survey to respond to the questionnaire. They replied their answers to the questionnaire proposed and developed by Horvitz (1891) including 33 items. To adapt the questionnaire to the needs of the study participants, 11 items were discarded and the remaining 23 items were translated into Farsi for the elementary learners to understand it. The population of the study was composed of 112 elementary students who were studying English in a language institute. Of these participants, 11 were females and the others were males. The participants were selected from the same institute. They were studying under the same condition with the same system, textbooks and teacher. The results of the study revealed that not much difference could be observed between the attitudes of the males and females. In fact, it was revealed that four major sources affected the anxiety level of the participants: the teacher, error corrections strategy , the skill to be practiced, and classroom environment.
