چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: There are the activities which you may find fairly new. Most of the activities involve work with given literary texts. Doing foreign literature may therefore swell learners’ ability to express themselves with clarity and effect. Nothing is loved by everyone-not even the lessons we normally teach. Also, it is a possibility that more students have a liking for literature, or may come to have one, than we might at first suspect.(Lindstromberg, pp. 161-162). The short story is one of the oldest forms of literature. The fairy tales our fathers and mothers told us at the bedside are in a direct line of descent from the ancient myths; legends, and folktales that our ancestors recounted to amuse and instruct one another even before they had a written language. And these two elements: amusements and instruction have remained an important part of storytelling and reading for us as well. Lessons in English structure can be as exciting as any others. The old-fashioned grammar books drew up formidable lists of paradigms (changes in verbs, e.g. I walk, you walk, he walks) past tenses, plurals and so on.How do we look upon grammar nowadays? The present study believes that grammar is an exercise in logical thinking, that it trains the mind. We justify grammar by the general use that is made of it in ordinary life that the example is more important than the rule. What is grammar and why do we teach it? Grammar is not a separate ‘subject’ nor is time- table, this is only for convenience. It is a small part of the English course that the study of the nature of the language which helps us to get the ‘feel’ of the language. The study of the language as we hear it and say it, of its analysis into several parts and our ability to put it together again and to follow patterns already learnt, this is grammar, and this is language.
