چکیده مقاله:

Synthesis, functionalization and surface treatment of nanoparticles is an area of conclusive importance in thefield of nanotechnology. Controlling the surface chemical composition and its modification at the nanometer scale arecritical issues for many applications involving nanoparticles. The creation of specific surface sites on nanoparticles forselective molecular attachment is considered a promising approach for their applications in nanofabrication, nanopatterning, selfassembly, nanosensors, bioprobes, drug delivery, pigments, photocatalysis, etc [1]. This researchpresents sol-gel as efficient TiO2 synthesis method and approaches for controlling and functionalizing the TiO2 surfacesto enhance the overall performance of the nanoparticles for biotechnology and drug delivery applications [2]. Because ofthe high surface energy, TiO2 nanoparticles often don’t have satisfactory surface properties such as easy aggregation andpoor dispersion in inorganic solvents and bad compatibility with organic matrix for practical applications [3]. We reportedthe synthesis of water dispersible TiO2 nanoparticles coated with lactic acid and Polyethylene glycol (PEG). Carboxylicgroup (-COOH) also PEG is currently most popular and found to be most effective in shielding the surface charge ofTiO2. In this study, the TiO2 nanopowder has been characterized by FT-IR, x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmissionelectron microscopy (TEM).
