چکیده مقاله:

This work presents modification of starch, maleic anhydride (MA), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel byreacting it with fumarate alumoxane (Fum-A) nanoparticles to be used for the removal of ammonia from wastewater.The surface morphology of the nanocomposite hydrogel and the hydrogel alone was studied. SEM and FTIRcharacterized the materials. Investigation of the swelling behaviour of the hydrogel and its nanocomposite was improvedabout 1.5 units. The adsorption capacities for the removal of ammonium ion were measured. Langmuir, Freundlich andTemkin isotherms were used to describe the experimental data. The results indicated that, the prepared hydrogelnanocomposite was a three-dimensional network and had the advantages of fast adsorption rate and high adsorptioncapacity for NH4+ in a natural pH medium. Maximum capacity for ammonia removal was 7.43 mg/g.
