چکیده مقاله:

In present study, the microstructure and properties of Al‐Al2O3 nanocomposite hollow sphere structures(foams) were investigated. The 3.5 mm nanocomposite hollow spheres with two different wall thickness of 200 and400 μm and chemical composition of Al‐xAl2O3 (x=0, 2.5 , 5 wt.%), were prepared using fluidized bed coating andsubsequent debinding and sintering precess. Then, the hollow sphere structures (closed cell foams) were producedusing sintered hollow spheres and nanocomposite powders with the same composition of hollow spheres. Theprepred specimens were charecterised for density mesurements, microstructural (OM/SEM) observations andmicrohardness. It was found that, as the nanoparticle addition increases the grain size in sphere wall and its relatedmatrix decreases; but the grain in sphere wall are coarser than matrix (63 versus 46 μm, for 5 wt.%). Also, As the wallthickness increases by the factor of 2, the density increases by the factor of 1.25. The hardness increases as thenanoparticle content increases. Also, in a given content of reinforcement, the hardness of spheres wall are higherthan their related matrix.
