چکیده مقاله:

Non-woven mats of poly(vinyl alcohol)/chitosan blends and also poly(vinyl alcohol)/chitosan combined with Lidocainehydrochloride were fabricated by electrospinning method. The effect of PVA to chitosan weight ratio in the finalmorphology of the electrospun mats were examined by field emission scanning electron microscopy in two differentweight ratios of 96/4 and also 92/8 (PVA/chitosan). The results showed a completely bead free structure in the weightratio of 96/4 (PVA/chitosan) as compared to 92/8. Altering the weight ratio from 92/8 to 96/4 (PVA/chitosan) changedthe average fiber diameter from 242 nm to 190 nm respectively. The addition of Lidocaine improved theelectrospinnability of the solution as it tends to further decrease the surface tension. It also decreased the average fiberdiameter from 242 nm to 177 nm. The electrospun mats were characterized by FTIR before and after crosslinking andalso after the addition of Lidocaine hydrochloride, none of which showed any unexpected bonds created. The in vitrorelease studies of nonwoven mats demonstrated a slow and appropriate profile for lidocaine hydrochloride so as to beused as a suitable local anaesthetic agent in wound dressing mats.
